SOPHOMORE FUNDRAISER: It’s that time again to let Mad River Farm Market cook you dinner to support the sophomore class! Fundraiser is March 5th from 5pm to 8pm. Proceeds from all dine-in meals will be donated back to the sophomore class.
We will also have some sophs on had to sell some raffle tickets and clear tables. We’d love to see you there!

COUNSELING OFFICE

HR VISITS: Homeroom scheduling visits will start today for 8th grade, with the schedule below. If you are unable to attend your HR visit, please plan to attend an alternative date/location. The 2025-2026 Course Catalog is attached in a Schoology email for you to reference.

CCP INFORMATIONAL MEETING: Any students in grades 7-12 who are interested in CCP should plan to attend TODAY’s CCP Informational Meeting from 6:15-7:30 pm in the cafetorium.

SPORTS

8th GRADE: The majorettes are looking for talented individuals to join for next marching season! There will be a clinic for anyone interested in learning (grades 8-11) on February 24-27, 5pm-7pm, in the little gymnasium. Official tryouts for the 2025 season will be on Friday, February 28, starting at 5pm. If interested, contact Mr. Waibel (at school) or Barbie Williams (barbie.williams0827@gmail.com)

HIGH SCHOOL

JOSTENS: A Josten’s representative will be here to deliver your graduation orders AND to take class ring orders on Friday, February 28th BEFORE school in the cafetorium. ALL orders must be paid in full, cash only (NO checks accepted). Orders can still be placed online or by calling 937-552-9904. Some clothing will be available for sale – t shirts/shorts $10, cap $10, tassel $15, sweatpants $20, hoodies/crew $20 – cash/cc only.

PAGES: We will meet on March 4th during 1st HR (if you eat then, bring your lunch). If you didn’t participate last semester but would like to give it a try this semester, you are welcome to come to this meeting. Meet in Ms. Haney’s room.

SOPHOMORES: We need volunteers to help clear tables and sell raffle tickets for the Market Fundraiser on March 5th. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year. Sign-ups in Ms. Haney’s room.

Mad River Farm Market Sophomore Class Fundraiser Evening

50/50 Raffle Guest Servers!

Dine in for dinner and the Sophomore Class will receive 10% of all proceeds of the evening!

SENIORS: Check your email for a link to the Future Plans Survey! Please take a moment to fill it out for your Senior Shout Out, which will be featured on our live feed and social media. If you’d like to submit a different senior photo (other than your school composite), please email it to awygal@wlstigers.org by March 10, 2025. We can’t wait to showcase your future plans and celebrate the Class of 2025!

COUNSELING OFFICE

CCP Informational Meeting is Thursday, February 27 at 6:15. There will be a mini-college fair from 4:00-6:00 prior to this meeting. Students who will be new to CCP OR changing how they participate next school year are required to attend. See Mrs. Smith with any questions.

FRESHMAN: All Freshmen will be attending the Freshmen Showcase at Ohio Hi Point on March 6, a brief field trip to learn more about the various programs and labs available at Hi Point. Permission forms will be distributed by HR Teachers. Please turn in your permission forms to your HR teacher by March 4.

SOPHOMORES: Registration is now open for the Pre-ACT that will take place on March 13. Register in the HS Counseling Office by paying $18 (cash or check made payable to WLS). The Pre-ACT is recommended for college considering students. This assessment is great practice for what to expect on the ACT as well as provide predictive scores. Register by March 10.

JUNIORS: The ACT will be March 13 @ WL-S. If you were absent during the HR Meetings for creating your ACT account and completing the non- test sections, be sure to make arrangements to meet with Mrs. Smith to complete this prior to March 13. If you are having difficulty setting up your account, also be sure to see Mrs. Smith to resolve any issues prior to March 13. Students interested in opting out can pick up and return the required paperwork at the HS Counseling Office.

Junior Achievement Scholarship: Two $1,000 scholarships awarded; Seniors in Clark, Champaign, Logan or Madison County High Schools can apply Must have either: Completed or taught a Junior Achievement program, completed a JA Inspire program OR participated in the Entrepreneur Club of Champaign County, Champaign County Jr Leadership Academy or will participate in the May 1st JA Stock Market Challenge; Scholarship awards are applied to college tuition, books and fees directly; Apps in Counseling Office; Due back to Counseling Office by 3/11/25

Thaddeus David Sapp Memorial: Multiple scholarships for $500+; For WL-S, Triad and Urbana HS seniors in choir or band who plan to major in the medical or special education field; App in Counseling Office; Due back to Counseling Office by 3/21/25

WRESTLING: Good luck to our Wrestlers this weekend at Districts!
District Wrestling for the boys is this Friday and Saturday at Hobart Arena in Troy: Lucas Merriman, Kyler Langhart, and Silas Krabill all qualified, and Wyatt Shoemaker is an alternate. Students will be released from school at 10:00am, during 3rd period on Friday.

Good luck to our girls wrestling at Districts on Sunday: Chloe Griffith qualified with a 4th place finish and Jenna Cline finished 5th in her weight class and is an alternate!

WEIGHT ROOM: Any high school student using the weight room after school must be accompanied by a board approved chaperone (coach, teacher, or administrator). Weight room hours are 3:00-4:15 every day except Wednesday which is 3:00-4:00.
