Mrs. Stayrook’s Snack Attack was a hit this week! Mrs. Stayrook’s first graders have been working hard the last couple of weeks learning all about their names. They’ve discussed how many letters, vowels, consonants and syllables are in their names. They are working hard to learn their friends’ names, too, and are doing some fun activities to reiterate the lessons. Yesterday, they had a special “Snack Attack”, to wrap up all they’ve learned. Students were asked to bring a snack that begins with the same letter as their name. Some of these can be challenging. A few of their favorites (which were kind of tricky) were… Emma – Eggo Waffles Kyla – Kit Kat Tommy – tomatoes Ike – Icee Viola – Veggie Straws We took pictures and compiled them into a class book to read throughout the year. The students enjoyed seeing what their friends brought, and they loved showing off their special snack. Great job, first grade!

Twenty high school students attended, ‘Don’t Give Up’, a sign rally at the Champaign County Courthouse, on Friday afternoon. The students joined community members and students from neighboring high schools. Molly Smith, High School Counselor shared that students, who signed up for the event in the weeks prior, all mentioned that they felt pulled to be a part of such an important event and share the message. Mrs. Smith shared with faculty, “The event was meaningful for the 20 students that attended. It was inspiring to watch students take pride in what they were doing.” Thank you to each student who took time to remind someone to never give up!

Paint LOCO Pink uses their fundraising efforts through sponsorships for events like this to honor, support and raises awareness though out communities in Logan County.
