The Ohio legislature has designated the first Monday in May as “School Bus Driver Appreciation Day.” This day is an opportunity for Ohioans to reflect upon the outstanding job performance of more than 15,000 school bus drivers who transport students to and from school and school-related events throughout the year. To date, they have covered over 420 school sponsored trips between our 13 contracted bus drivers and a handful of subs, and still counting as we finish the year. Their hard work does not go unnoticed! Please take a moment to watch this video, and thank the men and women working in our Transportation Department for the efforts they make in keeping our school children safe each day. https://youtu.be/U-QcmassYVg?si=j5m_cy4K9vBtOJ9B

The West Liberty-Salem FFA Chapter recently attended the 96th Ohio FFA Convention where they celebrated the chapter’s accomplishments over the past year. “This year was amazing for our chapter with many accomplishments along the way,” shared Chapter Reporter Ella Vondenhuevel. Among those include the Charitable Giving Award that is awarded to a chapter that goes above and beyond the community service required by its members. Treasurer Kay Connolly and Secretary Shyanne McClintick both received gold rated officer books and earned a pin on the convention stage. Member Cara Deam was selected by Sunrise Cooperative to join the “Rise Program”, a program developed to encourage employment with Sunrise Cooperative immediately following high school graduation. Sunrise is a leading agricultural and energy cooperative located in Ohio. Greyson Horlsley represented West Liberty-Salem in the Ohio FFA State Band playing the french horn! Greyson tried out for this opportunity earlier in the year and was selected to represent his school in a statewide concert during the convention! Maddox Havens, 2023 Graduate, got the opportunity to join the chapter one last time as a State FFA officer candidate! The chapter also received their 7th place General Livestock Judging plaque. And, Shyanne McClintick received her individual livestock judging plaque. Congratulations to all our members on quite a list of accomplishments!
