Hello parents! This is Aaron Hollar. I have important information (please read carefully) to share about an opportunity for students to say hello and goodbye to teachers. Parents and students will have to stay in your vehicles, and teachers will talk through the car windows. Due to mass gathering guidelines, we have to host this event on multiple days with the following schedule: May 26 – KG and 3rd Grade from 2:00-6:00 May 27 – 1st and 4th Grade from 2:00-6:00 May 28 – 2nd and 5th Grade from 2:00-6:00 If we have bad weather, we will reschedule for May 29 from 2:00-6:00. On this day, your child’s teachers will spend a few minutes talking with him/her, pass out report cards, and collect library books, text books, and any borrowed technology. You will receive more specific instructions as we get closer to the event. Have a great week everyone!

Good morning! There are several important announcements for HS and MS students and parents. Three announcements to follow will cover graduation details, trip refunds and end-of year drop off of materials. Graduation WL-S plans to hold an in-person graduation ceremony at Tiger Stadium on the West Liberty-Salem campus on Saturday, July 25th at 8:00pm. Details regarding any necessary limitations to the number of guests per graduate will be announced in early July. We will also be hosting a Diploma Pick-Up Event for graduates and immediate family members on Sunday, May 24th. Details have been sent directly to seniors and families. Trip Refunds Our treasurer’s office is completing the last of approximately 400 refunds this week, with the hope of getting all refund checks in the mail by the end of next week. Parents should definitely be able to expect to receive refund checks before the end of the month. Thank you for your continued patience with this very difficult and time-consuming task. End-of-Year Drop-off of Materials: Similar to when we had students pick-up their locker materials, we want to give students an opportunity to drop-off parking passes, wifi hotspots, iPads and textbooks as well as pick-up any certificates or artwork or other materials that are still here at school. Any students who are still working on completing assignments (as Thursday, May 28th is the last day of school), can hold onto iPads and materials until all assignments are completed. HS Students – please leave your student ID with your iPad. More details will be shared as the dates approach. Tuesday, May 26 – Middle School Grades 6, 7 & 8 from 6:00pm-8:00pm Wednesday, May 27 – High School Grades 9, 10 & 11 from 6:00pm-8:00pm SENIOR DROP-OFF OF TEXTBOOKS & I-PADS & PARKING PASSES Seniors can drop-off textbooks, parking passes and iPads between 8am-3pm on May 18th, 19th or 20th. (Students still completing work and submitting assignments can hold on to textbooks and iPads until the end of the week if necessary.) Rich will be wiping the iPad, taking them off of our network, and preparing them to go back to the seniors to keep. We need the iPads early in the week so that they will be ready to return to graduates on May 24th. Here are some instructions from Rich regarding your iPads: When you turn in your iPads, please follow the following steps: 1. Make sure you have filled out the form on Schoology 2. Make sure you have all the work or pictures that you want to keep emailed to your personal email account or uploaded to your OneDrive. The iPad will be wiped clean. 3. If your ID is not in the back of your iPad cases make sure your name is somewhere on the machine so I can tell who it belongs to.

Mr. Greg Johnson has released the following Press Release regarding graduation plans for our 2020 graduates. West Liberty-Salem has announced their graduation plans for the Class of 2020. After much thought and consideration, the plans that we have in place reflect the following objectives: Plan an event that properly recognizes the accomplishments of the Class of 2020, while also satisfying the overwhelming desire of the graduates to have an in-person event that includes the graduates as well as faculty, family and guests. Plan an event that is in-line with COVID-19 related restrictions and recommendations and has the safety of all graduates and guests in mind. In-Person Graduation Ceremony on July 25th at 8:00pm. An In-Person Graduation Ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, July 25th at 8:00pm at Tiger Stadium on the West Liberty-Salem campus. We plan to have all graduates seated on the football field with school staff and guests in the bleachers. The school will respect the mass gathering restrictions and social distancing requirements that are in effect at the time and will revise the graduation plan as necessary. The rain date will be Sunday, July 26th at 8:00pm. If graduation cannot be held July 25th or 26th due to weather or COVID-19 related restrictions, then graduation will become a virtual event. More details will be shared in early July. Diploma Pick-Up on May 24th from Noon-5:00pm. West Liberty-Salem will also hold a Diploma Pick-Up Event for all graduates on Sunday, May 24th, from Noon-5:00pm. This will be a drive-thru event where students will be able to cross the stage, receive their diploma and have pictures taken. Students will have an appointed time and will be able to invite a limited number of guests. Details of this event have been communicated directly to graduates and parents. Thank you for your understanding as we continue to adjust in very uncertain times.
