It’s musical week and WLS is presenting SHREK: The Musical! Due to a restricted number of in person ticket sales, we will have a livestream option available for the community through a company called "Showtix4u". There is an unlimited number of tickets that can be sold. If you purchase the streaming option, it is NOT through the school website "Livestream" option, but through the Showtix4u website. You may purchase a ticket to watch the pre-recorded video on: Friday (3/19) at 7pm Saturday (3/20) at 1pm Saturday (3/20) at 7pm The video will be the recorded version during dress rehearsal week. Our United Way student representatives have been actively serving their community as United Way volunteer opportunities resume. Michael Stoner, Avery Davis, Kaylee LeVan, and Lance Baldwin are our student representatives this year. Recently, they helped distribute food at the Lions’ Park Food Bank Distribution Drive Thru. This week, they attended the Habitat for Humanity meeting where they learn community needs and how they can assist with an upcoming Habitat project. We look forward to seeing how the projects and volunteer opportunities unfold!

Third graders in Mr. Leichty’s class have been learning about symbolism and how it is used to make a point in a story. This was a fun, team building type of activity where students wore either white or grey to represent different parts of writing. Students in white, for example, represented the symbolism in the story. It was a fun way to break up traditional learning and do something more hands on!

Mr. Henry and the varsity choir performed and recorded a song for Mrs. Ellen Vitt who has been the choir’s beloved accompanist for years. With very little time to practice, they gathered in the atrium of the elementary to take advantage of the best acoustics in the building. They hope, with their message, she is able to feel their love and encouragement as she continues to battle health concerns. Please click the link and enjoy their performance. https://youtu.be/S36uPh7VflQ With Love, The WL-S Varsity Choir

It’s the 100th day of school, and the first graders celebrated in style! Each student decorated a shirt with 100 items they love from home. Some used stickers, googley eyes, safety pins, plastic toy bugs, Pom Poms, legos, and shiny gemstones to describe their individuality. This morning, they showcased their hard work in a fashion show emcee’ed by their teacher. We have some very creative students, who were excited to share their 100th day idea! The 100th day of school is a celebrated and anticipated tradition each year. It’s a great way for teachers to celebrate the various math, science and writing concepts that can be taught using the number 100. AND, we made it to day 100 together! Looking good, Little Tigers!
