West Liberty-Salem hosted Prom on Saturday, April 27th at the Urbana Country Club. More than 200 students were in attendance to dance the night away in honor of the Senior Class of 2024. A Night on the Red Carpet was an appropriate theme for what was certainly a wonderful night hosted by the junior class! This year, Prom Royalty included King Carter Titus and Queen Anna Byrd! Prom Prince was Teagon Miller and Princess was Anna Cole! Congratulations!
Congratulations to Abby Guest! Abby is enrolled at Wright State University as a direct admit to their BSN Nursing program!
The West Liberty-Salem Girls Track and Field team wrapped up day two of the Wayne Invitational placing fifth out of forty three teams.
Top 10 Team Scores: 1st Centerville 86, 2nd Wayne 71, 3rd Beavercreek 62, 4th Waynesville 46, 5th WLS 38, 6th (tie) Hilliard Davidson 31 & Minster 31, 8th Springfield 30.5, 9th (tie) Springboro and Gahanna Lincoln 25
Delaney Jones had a big night for the Tigers winning the long jump (18'4.75") and placing third in the 100 meter dash in a new school record of 12.11.
Other podium finishes for WLS included Ashley Yoder second place in the Rising Stars 1600 Meter Run (5:33.42), Claire Longshore 8th place in the 100 Meter Hurdles (16.55) and the 4x100 Meter Relay team of Tori Douthwaite, Delaney Jones, Gwen McCullough and Chloe Griffith placing 5th (50.89).
Malia Miller finished out of the scoring but had a career PR in the 3200 meter run (11:44.23).
West Liberty-Salem will host the Tiger Invitational sponsored by Reliant Mechanical, Inc. Friday, May 3rd.

Congratulations to West Liberty-Salem’s Middle School Science Olympiad team which concluded its season on Saturday at The Ohio State University campus. Our team earned the right to compete at the State Science Olympiad tournament for the eighteenth year in a row. Our team finished 23rd overall in the State of Ohio out of 219 participating schools. Winning awards Saturday were Thaddeus Kitchen and Drew Piacentino who placed 4th in their event “Optics”. Mr. Spencer and the nine other WL-S Science Olympiad coaches would like to thank the team for making this such a fun and rewarding season.
Prom Announcement!
The West Liberty-Salem Junior/Senior Prom is Saturday, April 27th at the Urbana Country Club from 7:00-10:00pm.
Prom March will take place from 6:30pm-7:00pm. We are expecting over 200 students to attend prom this year. Therefore, space and parking will be very limited.
The three parking areas (A, B & C) closest to the country club will be reserved for those attending prom. Students who want to take advantage of valet parking should drive past lot A, up to the clubhouse, to the drop-off area. Then, a valet will park your vehicle in lot A, B or C.
Any parents or others who are attending Prom March need to park in the area designated “Parents & Guests”. Again, space will be limited, so parents and other family members should consider car-pooling or getting pictures prior to prom.

8th graders are enjoying their last day in DC/Gettysburg today! Yesterday, they visited the US Holocaust Museum and the WWII, Lincoln, Vietnam, and Korean Memorials. They finish their tour today at the Gettysburg Battlefield before arriving home later this evening!

The West Liberty-Salem Girls Track and Field team is currently in fourth place after Day One of the Wayne Invitational held at Troy Memorial Stadium.
Top 5 team scores: 1st Centerville 32.5, 2nd Springboro 20, 3rd Minster 18, 4th WLS 17 5th Springfield 15.5
The Tigers had three relay teams with podium finishes including the Shuttle Hurdle team of Claire Longshore, Alaina Irving, Hattie Jacobs and Sophia Hardwick placing second in a school record time of 1:08.53, the 4000 Meter Distance Medley team of Ashley Yoder, Mallory Bostick, Addie McAuley and Malia Miller placing fourth (13:08.06) and the same quartet of Miller, McAuley, Yoder and Bostick teaming up for a fifth place finish in the 4x800 Meter Relay (10:09.72).
In pole vault, Elise Longshore finished 13th out of 40 vaulters in a career PR of 10'0.
Qualifying for Friday's finals in the 100 Meter Hurdles were Claire Longshore (16.80) and Sophia Hardwick (17.02) and Delaney Jones in the 100 Meter Dash (12.41).

Our 8th graders arrived in Washington D.C. late yesterday! They toured Arlington National Cemetary, Kennedy graves, Challenger and Columbia Memorials, and saw the Changing of the Guards. They walked to the Pentagon 9/11 Memorial, Memorial sites of Martin Luther King, Jr., Franklin D. Roosevelt, and Jefferson Memorial. Today, they toured Mount Vernon (where they are pictured), stopped for a photo at the White House/Lafayette Park, and took a lunch cruise aboard Spirit of Washington! They have a busy afternoon planned, and we will share more photos from our amazing chaperones as they come!

7th grader Kamden Yang, traveled to Spain over spring break with Elite FC and Generation Adidas International for a unique soccer training experience. Kamden spent 4 days in Madrid and 4 days in Valencia. He was able to visit Ciudad Deportiva del Real Madrid (training complex for Real Madrid CF), Santiago Bernabeu Stadium (home of Real Madrid CF), Estadio Civitas Metropolitano (home of Atletico Madrid), UNESCO World Heritage Site Toledo, Albufera Natural Park (boat tour), Camp de Futbol El Terrer, and Mestalla Stadium (Home of Valencia CF). As part of the trip, Kamden participated in training sessions held by Real Madrid CF & Valencia CF staff. He also played in 3 friendly games against C.D. Algeteno (losing 4-3), Paiporta CF (winning 4-0) and Ravens Wood from Bromley which is a suburb of London, England (winning 6-0). In the game against Ravens Wood, Kamden recorded 1 goal and 1 assist. Kamden was also able to attend soccer games between Spain and Brazil (friendly) and Valencia CF vs Mallorca (La Liga). Congratulations, Kamden, on this unique and exciting experience! We look forward to following along!
