🐾🤼‍♂️ Tiger Wrestlers Battle at District Championships! 🤼‍♂️🐾 The West Liberty-Salem Boys Wrestling team competed at the District Championships this past weekend at Troy Hobart Arena, fighting for a chance to qualify for State! 💪🔥 This year's Troy District was the largest and deepest in the state, making the path even tougher. The Tigers sent three wrestlers to the tournament, with Wyatt Shoemaker as a potential fourth, but he unfortunately did not get the call to compete. However, all three qualifiers made it to Day 2 and put on a great performance! 🏅 126 lbs – Lucas Merriman: 2-2 with a pin and a major decision 🏅 138 lbs – Kyler Langhardt: 2-2 with a pin 🏅 165 lbs – Silas Krabill: 4-2, placing 5th with a pin and two major decisions. Silas is a State Alternate! While only the top four qualify for State, Silas’ 5th place finish keeps his season alive as an alternate! 🏆 Though we always aim higher, there is so much to be proud of with this team. These young men gave everything they had, wrestling hard in every match and leaving it all on the mat. This is a young team on the rise, growing stronger every day! We continue to hold out hope for Silas’ shot at State, but no matter what—it’s a GREAT day to be a Tiger Wrestler! 🐯💪 #TigerWrestling #DistrictBattles #KeepGrinding #GoTigers

🏆🤼‍♀️ History Made! 🤼‍♀️🏆 WL-S Girls Wrestling had a strong showing at the Southwest District Tournament, and Chloe Griffith made history! 🎉💪 Chloe went 3-2 with 2 pins, finishing 5th and earning the title of State Alternate! 🔥 She proved that rankings and seeds don’t define a wrestler, taking down tough opponents—including pinning the 4th-place finisher! She’ll be back at it this week, staying ready in case she gets the call for State! 🏅 👏 Chloe is officially the FIRST District placer in WL-S Girls Wrestling history! 👏 Keep grinding, Chloe—your hard work is paying off! 💪🐾 #HistoryMaker #WLSWrestling #StateBound? #KeepWorking

Our 6th graders have been diving into the world of therapy dogs! In ELA, they researched the many benefits and common uses of therapy dogs, then wrote their own stories about their impact on society. To bring their learning to life, they had the amazing opportunity to meet two local therapy dogs—one of whom was our very own resident therapy dog, Melvin! It was a wonderful experience that combined research, creativity, and a hands-on connection with these incredible animals.

West Liberty-Salem Local School invites students and parents to learn about the College Credit Plus (CCP) program, which offers opportunities to earn college credit while still in high school—for free! The event is scheduled for February 27th, 2025, from 4:00-6:00 PM. While CCP is available to students in grades 7-12, families are encouraged to carefully consider whether this rigorous program aligns with their student's academic readiness. The earliest students can take a CCP class at WL-S is 10th grade, only for advanced science students, while most students start CCP their junior year. Students wanting to participate in CCP sooner than that must enroll with a local college and take classes online or in person. Please reach out to our HS Counseling Department with any questions.
