Getting On and Off the Bus: 🚌Warn children that if they drop something getting on and off the bus, they should never pick it up. Instead, they should tell the driver and follow the driver’s instructions. 🚌 Remind children to look to the right before they step off the bus. 🚌 If you meet your child at the bus stop after school, wait on the side where the child will be dropped off, not across the street. 🚌Children can be so excited to see you after school that they dash across the street and forget the safety rules. Thank you for always keeping our students and drivers safe!

Good evening, WL-S Families, this is Kraig Hissong, Superintendent, with important information on our upcoming fire drill. Tomorrow, during the school day, our staff and students will be participating in their annual window egress fire drill. We conduct this safety drill to practice alternative egress in the event of a fire and to ensure our students understand how to utilize the emergency windows in their classrooms. This is part of our annual safety drills. Please do not be alarmed if you happen to see students exiting out of windows tomorrow. Thank you, Kraig Hissong

Here is another tip on bus safety during National School Bus Safety Week! Understanding school bus lights: Yellow flashing lights indicate the bus is preparing to stop to load or unload children. You should slow down and prepare to stop your vehicle. Red flashing lights and extended stop arms indicate the bus has stopped and children are getting on or off. You must stop your car and wait until the red lights stop flashing, the extended stop-arm is withdrawn, and the bus begins moving, before you can start driving again. Help us keep our drivers and students safe!

Mrs. Petersson’s 5th grade math classes solved their first Break Out Boxes of the year on Friday! Students were tasked with solving fall themed challenges that served as a fun review of their current lessons. Each challenge reveals a number leading to a code that unlocks the breakout box. The concept of a breakout box is similar to an escape room on a smaller scale. They had a lot of fun reviewing what they’ve learned and enjoyed working together in small groups!
